Learning Plan (Activities) Day 1

Warm Up Activity (5mins)

The students will be given a warm up activity on Human Resources to have connection with the topic on development works.

The students will be asked to write about their profession/occupation. They will be given help to understand that their profession or occupation is itself the human resources.

They will be asked to write down what type of skills is required for it. What subjects are important for them to achieve their aim in life?

Activity (30 mins)

The students will be given a concept on the development projects based on the various infrastructures that they have learned Example Education, Health, Transportation, Communication, Drinking Water and Electricity.

  1. Discuss in your group about the advantages of developmental programs and come to a conclusion.
  2. What type of Development programs are needed in your community?
  3. Make a model of news regarding the development programs in the country.
  4. Collect and discuss about the different news from newspaper about the different development projects in the country.
  5. There might be development projects in your community. Talk about these projects with your parents or experts from neighbors. Prepare a report based on the how, who, when and what have been done in the development works.

Wrap Up Activity (10 mins)

After writing down the learning outcome, ask students to take a card, circle one of the following options, and return the card to you before they leave:

  • Stop (I’m totally confused.)
  • Go (I’m ready to move on.)
  • Proceed with caution (I could use some clarification on . . .)

Field Trips The students could be taken to the development project such as Melamchi Drinking Water Project, Sundarijal Hydropower Project and Sundarijal Drinking Water Project as an educational excursion to understand about the development projects along with the infrastructures such as Drinking Water, Electricity and Human Resources.

The students will explore about the development project of Melamchi Drinking Water Project along with the Sundarijal Drinking Water Project and the Hydropower Project. They could learn about the following objectives. They will interview with the officials and local people around it.

  1. How the development project was established?
  2. Who were involved in the project? Who were the different types of human resources involved in the development project?
  3. When was the Project completed?
  4. What has been done in the project?
Projects All groups will visit a development project (hydro-power station, drinking water project and interview with the officials and local people around it.

They prepare a detail report on the establishment, funding, participation of local people and its benefit and submit it to the teacher within a week time. The project will get 5% of the credit for the first month evaluation.
