Day 1

Warm Up Activity

The students will be given a reading material on Physical features of Africa. They will be asked to read it and underline the places of Africa given in the map

 

Main Activity

 

The students will be asked to locate all the places of the reading material in the map of Africa using the Atlas.

Wrap Up Activity

The students will be asked about the difficult places to locate. The will be clarifies about the problems. Their problem will be solved using google earth so that they learn how to use technology like google earth etc.

 

 Day 2 ( Physical Features)

Warm Up Activity

Please use different colour for each of the physical division and use a legend as well

Physical Features

1.      The Atlas Mountain: North western part

2.      The central plateau: Atlantic Coast in the west to the Nile Valley in the east; Tibesti and the Ahaggar plateau; Sahara Desert

3.      The high plateau: Ethiopian plateau, central lake plateau and south African plateau; Namib and Kahalari Desert; Kilimanjaro, snowcapped mountain

4.      The Great Rift Valley:

5.      The Nile and Zire Basins: Nile Basin borders river Nile and its tributaries in north-eastern Africa; Zire(Congo) Basin in the west central Africa

Activity 2

The students will be given atlas and asked to write about the climate and vegetation of Africa. They will be asked to write the different countries of the climate.

Day 3 (Climate and Vegetation)

Warm Up Activity

The students will be given Atlas and asked to write about the types of climate found in Africa. They will read the map.

 

Main Activity

Activity 1

The teacher will help out with the first one. They will be asked to write in order. They will be asked to focus on the climate either from North to South or from highest to lowest.

Activity 2

The students will be asked to give the names of few of the important countries having the particular type of climate using the Atlas.

Activity 3

The students will be asked to read the map on Page 79 for population density, land use, mineral and relief , major industries . They will be asked to write what they understand about it in paragraph.

Then the students will be given a reading material based on the economic activities of Africa.
